At Optimal Energy we have two strategic axes: i) Battery-as-a-Service digital platform and ii) we develop battery sites.
- By the digital platform, we create virtual batteries: digital, tradable, on-demand access to real physical battery capacity. In practice, this means transforming a physical BESS asset into a financial flexibility tool. Either we build battery sites, or we integrate the batteries of third parties.
- By services for the battery site construction, we perform feasibility study of industrial lands, we do the permitting, detailed design of the sites and if necessary, finance the construction. Finally, we supervise turn-key construction.
We do not see a battery only as hardware. We see it as a programmable financial instrument that can provide capacity, energy shifting, imbalance protection, market access, and risk hedging.
What We Do by our Platform
Optimal Energy builds the digital layer between battery owners and flexibility buyers; the commercial interface between physical batteries and financial world. In short: we commoditize flexibility and make it available as a service.
For battery site owners, we make flexibility more liquid and more profitable. Instead of locking a battery into one long-term offtaker, one optimizer, or one market strategy, the owner can dynamically allocate all or part of the battery capacity to different offtakers. The offtakers can use the virtual battery for their specific commercial uses:
- tolling contracts;
- merchant optimization;
- imbalance hedging;
- ancillary services;
- short-term flexibility rental;
- portfolio optimization.
The owner can compare performance, switch between optimizers or offtakers, and allocate the asset to whoever creates the best risk-adjusted return. This helps increase battery utilization and reduce dependency on a single revenue stream.
For offtakers, electric companies, and traders, we provide access to battery flexibility without requiring them to finance, build, or own the asset. They can access capacity through APIs, use it for specific periods, and pay based on actual consumption or reserved availability. This gives them a financial hedge against market volatility, imbalance prices, and forecast errors.
In simple terms: we turn battery flexibility into an on-demand service.
This is aligned with Optimal Energy’s business model as a cloud-like infrastructure layer for the energy sector, where flexibility can be accessed through standardized APIs without upfront investment from the client.
Where We Sit in the Value Chain
Optimal Energy sits between three groups:
- Asset owners who own physical batteries or flexible energy assets.
- Electric companies who need flexibility but do not want to own hardware.
- Optimizers and traders who can create value from flexibility under different market strategies.
We provide the platform, pricing logic, capacity allocation, API access, monitoring, and performance tracking that allow these groups to interact efficiently.
We are not optimizing battery flexibilities. We are building a marketplace and operating layer for flexibility.
What We Do Not Do by our platform
We do not replace balance groups (BGs). They remain responsible for their regulatory obligations, nominations, and market positions.
We do not trade on the energy market, our customers do.
Optimal Energy Services – Building Bankable Battery Assets
While the platform creates the digital and commercial layer, Optimal Energy Services builds the physical backbone of that system: bankable, grid-connected battery assets.
What We Do by Optimal Energy Services
Optimal Energy Services is responsible for the development and delivery of battery storage projects (BESS), from early-stage feasibility to full operation.
We do not approach a battery as a simple installation.
We design it as an infrastructure asset engineered to generate predictable revenues.
In practice, we:
- identify and qualify industrial or grid-connected sites
- perform technical and financial feasibility studies by analysing potential offtakers according to the risk-profile of the land-owner
- manage permitting and grid connection (Technical connection request, ESTI, local authorities)
- design the optimal system configuration (power, capacity, layout)
- structure the project financially
- coordinate suppliers and contractors
- supervise construction and commissioning
Depending on the project, the battery can be financed by the asset owner or by our financial partners.
Our role is to ensure that the project is not only technically feasible, but also bankable, compliant, and aligned with market opportunities.
Where We Sit in the Value Chain
Optimal Energy Services operates at the interface between infrastructure and markets.
We sit between:
- Landowners and industrial clients
who provide the physical location and access to the grid. - Technology providers and EPC suppliers
who deliver battery systems, electrical infrastructure, and integration. - Investors and financing partners
who fund the assets and expect stable, risk-adjusted returns. - Commercial operators (including our platform)
who monetize flexibility once the battery is operational.
Our role is to align these actors into a single, coherent, executable project.
What Makes Our Approach Different
Most players either:
- focus on hardware delivery (EPC), or
- focus on market optimization and trading
We bridge both worlds in order to have end-2-end turn-key solution.
We design battery projects with:
- deep understanding of grid constraints and permitting realities
- clear visibility on revenue streams and market access
- flexibility in ownership and financing structures
- compatibility with multiple commercial strategies (not locked-in)
This ensures that each battery is not just built — but positioned to perform economically over time.
What We Do Not Do
To keep our positioning clear:
- We do not manufacture batteries. Battery cells and containers are mostly produced by global manufacturers, mainly in Asia, and imported by project developers or EPCs.
- We do not replace technology suppliers or OEMs
- We do not impose a single commercialization model
- We do not lock clients into a fixed offtaker or optimizer
Our objective is to deliver infrastructure that remains flexible, financeable, and market-ready.
In Simple Terms
Optimal Energy Services turns land and grid access into operational battery assets.
Together with our platform, we create a full stack:
- physical batteries
- digital access to flexibility
- financial value creation
